Firstly ensure that you have the antenna connected directly to your Beyonwiz PVR and not looping out from another device. If you are unable to receive any channels at all after performing a channel scan you may need to install better cables between the Beyonwiz PVR and the antenna connection or even a better antenna or signal booster. Having the Beyonwiz as the first point of connection directly from the antenna socket can also improve signal retention. People in home units may need to check the capability of the antenna and signal distribution system in the building to receive digital broadcast signals. If your antenna and antenna cabling is not in good condition you should consider replacing the antenna and cabling to receive uninterrupted digital television viewing. Viewers in areas of poor analog reception may need specialist advice about antenna requirements for digital reception in their area. It is recommended that you use quad shielded cable from the antenna to the Beyonwiz to ensure electrical impulse noise does not interfere with the digital signal. If you have taken steps to improve the signal being received but you are still unable to receive any particular channel contact our Technical Support Staff.

Pixelation on channels usually relates to the signal quality being received by the Beyonwiz. Being a twin tuner unit the Beyonwiz looks for a stronger clearer signal than a standard Digital TV or Set Top Box. If you are experiencing interference problems, you may need to install better cables between the Beyonwiz PVR and the antenna connection or even a better antenna. Signal loss much like pixelation usually relates to the reception level being received by your Beyonwiz PVR. As digital singals do not go snowy and fade in and out like an analog signal, in the event of a sudden change in the signal being received the picture can momentarily drop out. These dropouts can last until the signal returns to a level acceptable to restore picture. If you are experiencing singal dropouts, you may need to install better cables between the Beyonwiz PVR and the antenna connection or even a better antenna or signal booster. The initial answer to this is No. The Beyonwiz is a twin tuner device, meaning it can only tuner 2 separate channels at the same time. This means you can watch a channel and record another, or record 2 channels and watch something you have previously recorded.
No you cannot. The Beyonwiz is a twin tuner recorder which will only allow you to record a maximum of 2 channels at a time.
Yes this can be done using a Beyonwiz PVR. However while doing so the Beyonwiz unit will be unable to timeshift or record the third channel.

Any size external HDD in eiher FAT32 or NTFS should work fine if you are just playing back media files from your external HDD. It is recommended that your external HDD have its own independent power supply to avoid issues with detection and transfer speed. To use an external HDD to backup or copy recordings (on all models except FVL1) the external HDD will need to be formatted in FAT32 format before you attempt to copy the files. Your Beyonwiz PVR can format an external HDD up to 500gb by itself, but for drives larger than this you will need to format it using a PC or other device.

Check your remotes batteries and put in a fresh set. If the batteries are new and the remote still doesnt work press the button marked "STB" on your Beyonwiz remote to set your remote to Set Top Box control mode and try it again. If you own a Beyonwiz DP-P2, press and hold the OK and "2" buttons on your remote until the STB button flashes red 3 times (approx 10 seconds) then try your remote again. If your remote is in STB mode but still not working with your PVR ensure that all other electronic devices within a 5m range of your Beyonwiz (besides the TV set) are turned off and test again as this will show if other devices might be interfering. At this point if the remote continues to persist with the problem, contact Beyonwiz technical support on 1300 889 803 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1300 889 803 end_of_the_skype_highlighting
Most MKV files are supported for playback by a Beyonwiz PVR. However there are some limitations, MKV files with a HD resolution (720p or 1080p) may not be decodable by the Beyonwiz, the same is true for MKV files with multi-layer or surround sound audio tracks. If you find your Beyonwiz is unable to playback a particular MKV file it might be feasible to convert the original file to a different video resolution or audio format. This can usually eleviate playback issue, however if it still doesn"t solve the issue the encapsulation of that particular MKV may not be supported.
ISO files are not actually a supported format. Some versions of the Beyonwiz firmware will allow ISO files to be played, others will not. As it is not a supported format it is not an actual feature of the Beyonwiz products. Firmware versions labelled 01.05.XXX will support ISO playback while firmware versions labelled 01.07.XXX will not.
Much like with MKV, H264 AVI files are supported for playback by a Beyonwiz PVR. However there are some limitations, AVI files with a HD resolution (720p or 1080p) may not be decodable by the Beyonwiz, the same is true for AVI files with multi-layer or surround sound audio tracks. This can usually eleviate playback issue, however if it still doesn"t solve the issue the encapsulation of that particular AVI may not be supported.
WMV files are a supported format, however some files which require WMV7 or WMV8 video codec cannot be played back as they are not compatible
Beyonwiz PVRs are capable of playing back media files from an external HDD. If you are experiencing issues with stopping or skipping during playback of some files it is suggested that you copy those files to the internal HDD for viewing. This skipping can be caused by the external HDD not sourcing enough power to transfer data correctly, it can also be due to the transfer speed between the Beyonwiz and the external HDD or even the file format itself as it may not be a compatible file. Using a self powered external HDD or copying the file to the internal HDD will generally fix this issue unless the file itself is not compatible.
This is most commonly caused by a feature called "Dynamic Channel Management" this is a feature which allows the broadcaster to change information about the channel which is then automatically updated by your Beyonwiz, however doing this can in some cases allow the channel to be removed from the available channel list. To stop this from occuring, disabling Dynamic Channel Management is required. To do this:
Press "Setup" on your Beyonwiz remote control
Move across to "Misc" on the top menu row (icon of a page with a magnifying glass)
Move down to "PVR" in the left hand column and press OK
Move down to "Dynamic Channel Managment" in the main window
Press OK on this option and you will be given a popup box to allow you to enable or disable the feature, select "Disable" and press OK
This is usually due to signal loss, please see the Pixelation and Signal Loss FAQ
To perform a factory reset on a Beyonwiz PVR follow these steps:
Press the setup button on your Beyonwiz remote
Move to "System" in the Beyonwiz setup menu (the icon marked with two gears)
Move to "Initialise" option in the left hand column and press OK
Move down to the "Factory Setting" option in the main window and press OK
You will see a screen prompt saying "All settings will be initialised do you want to continue" select the "Yes" option and press OK
Your machine will now reset itself, if you find that the screen goes black and you have no picture please see the "No picture or sound" section of the FAQ page to restore the correct display setting
SD picture quality is superior to that obtained from analog 4:3 sets, and is "ghost free" and in widescreen format. The SD picture resolution is 576 lines x 720 pixels @ 50Hz interlaced (576i). The Federal Government requires broadcasters to provide a digital SD signal at all times, even when HD programs are being broadcast. This is to ensure that viewers with Standard Definition receivers will always be able to receive a digital television service even when the higher quality HD television signal is being transmitted.
As defined by Digital TV Australia:
HD pictures have image resolution which is superior to SD pictures and to the existing analog, with up to six times the improvement in detail.
The minimum HD picture resolution is be 576 lines x 720 pixels @ 50Hz progressive (576p).
This means that the benefits of HD pictures are particularly noticeable on larger screen sets and when using projection equipment.
HD pictures are also ghost free and in widescreen format. When viewed on an HDTV screen the viewer can enjoy cinema-quality viewing with Dolby surround sound.
In August 2002, the Government announced that it will seek to change each broadcaster"s obligation to broadcast HD programs to an annualised requirement of 1040 hours, including advertisements, and that these obligations will commence from 1 July 2003 or two years after the commencement of digital transmissions in an area. Programs transmitted in High Definition will also be simultaneously broadcast in Standard Definition.
The HD integrated television receiver (HDTV) or the HD set top box (HD-STB) are expected to cost more than SD integrated television receivers (SDTV) or the SD set
